Mengting Fang

Hey! Welcome to my website!

My name is Mengting Fang. I’m a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, studying vision and decision-making in the Computational Perception & Cognition Laboratory under Dr. Alan Stocker.

My research asks how the brain integrates noisy sensory information to make decisions, aiming to uncover the underlying computational principles through a normative lens. My work bridges behavior and cortical dynamics using theoretical frameworks from cognitive neuroscience and biophysically informed computational models, supported by Bayesian modeling, information theory, and neural data analysis.

Before Penn, I worked with Dr. Jay McClelland at Stanford University to study children’s number learning and with Dr. Stefano Anzellotti at Boston College on multivariate brain connectivity and action prediction.

I received my B.S. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Beijing Normal University. I grew up in Wuxi, a beautiful city known for its Lake Tai, cherry blossoms, and arguably the sweetest cuisine in China 🍬
